Photo Story: Ukrainian demonstration in Israel

By Calvin Milliner

The turmoil between Russia and Ukraine boiled over into a protest at Habima Square in Tel Aviv. It was our last few hours in Israel before our flight back to the U.S. But seeing how geopolitical affairs affect those close to it was meaningful as a journalist. Through photos, I was able to capture raw emotions from the protest but the lengths in which society has come in order to reach high ranking officials. When I look back at these photos forty years from now and see the Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressing Israeli society via Zoom, I will be taken back to how strange this time in history was.
